84 Spins on the Mountain: Inside the Asahi x Coronet Peak Night Ski Activation

84 video sessions. One Asahi Night Ski takeover. A 360 booth on a ski mountain. And now, a second activation booked.
There are some events where the location becomes just as much a part of the activation as the technology itself.
This was definitely one of them.
Moment Booth NZ recently headed back up Coronet Peak in Queenstown — this time to deliver an interactive 360 video brand activation for Asahi as part of their Night Ski takeover.
The idea was simple:
Spin. Tag. Go in the draw to win a Superpass for two.
By the end of the night, we'd captured 84 individual 360 video sessions, created a stack of branded digital content and given Night Ski guests another way to interact with the Asahi takeover.
And perhaps the best result?
They've already booked us to do it again.

Taking a 360 Activation Up Coronet Peak
A ski mountain probably isn't the first location that comes to mind when you think about a 360 video booth.
For us, that's exactly what made it exciting.
Coronet Peak Night Ski already has an incredible atmosphere. You've got people coming off the slopes, music playing, groups of friends hanging out and brands creating experiences around the mountain.
The goal wasn't to simply put another Asahi logo in front of guests.
We wanted to create something they could actually take part in.
Our 360 Video Booth gave guests the opportunity to step onto the platform, grab their friends and create a slow-motion video while the camera spun around them.
A few moments later, they had their own branded piece of content ready to take away.
Quick. Interactive. Shareable.
And most importantly, fun.
Spin. Tag. Win.
One thing we really liked about this activation was how simple the guest journey was.
There weren't multiple steps or a complicated sign-up process.
Guests could:
Jump on the 360 → Capture their video → Receive it digitally → Tag → Go in the draw
By tagging their content, guests had the opportunity to go into the draw to win a Coronet Peak Superpass for two.
It gave people another reason to participate while also connecting the physical activation on the mountain with social media.
That's something we think is incredibly important when designing brand activations.
The technology shouldn't be there just because it looks cool.
It should have a purpose within the wider campaign.
For Asahi, the 360 experience became a natural part of the Night Ski takeover — creating an interaction with the brand while giving guests something of their own to take away.

84 Video Sessions in One Night
By the end of the activation, the Moment Booth 360 had captured:
84 individual video sessions.
And that's sessions — not necessarily individual people.
A big part of the appeal of a 360 Booth is grabbing your friends and jumping on together, so many of those sessions included multiple Night Ski guests.
That meant every spin wasn't just another interaction with the activation.
It was another piece of branded, digital content being created.
Rather than the interaction ending when someone walked away from the activation, guests could take their video with them and share it afterwards.
For brands, that's where an interactive 360 activation starts becoming particularly powerful.

From a Physical Activation to Shareable Content
Traditional event branding can be incredibly effective for visibility.
But experiential marketing gives you the opportunity to go a step further.
Instead of a guest simply seeing the brand, they get to interact with it.
And when that interaction produces content featuring the guest themselves, it gives them a genuine reason to keep it.
With the Asahi x Coronet Peak activation, the end result wasn't a generic promotional video.
It was their video.
Their friends.
Their Night Ski experience.
Their memory from the mountain.
Asahi was naturally integrated into that experience.
That's the difference between creating branded content and creating branded content people actually want to receive.

Running an Activation on a Ski Mountain
We'll admit it:
Operating a 360 activation on a ski field is slightly different from rolling into a conference centre or hotel ballroom.
But that's also part of what we love about this side of Moment Booth NZ.
Brand activations don't always happen in traditional venues.
Equipment needs to get onto the mountain. Setup has to work around the wider event. Guest flow needs to be considered. Weather and alpine conditions can change. And everything still needs to operate smoothly once the activation goes live.
Our job is to deal with those logistics so the brand doesn't have to.
From getting the equipment into position and setting everything up to running the booth, helping guests and packing everything down afterwards, the activation was fully managed by the Moment Booth NZ team.
The end result for guests was simple:
Walk up.
Jump on.
Have fun.
Everything happening behind that experience is our problem.

Why 360 Video Works So Well for Brand Activations
There's a reason we're increasingly using our 360 platform for experiential marketing and branded events.
It's naturally interactive.
People see someone else doing it and immediately understand what's happening.
Then they want a turn.
It works especially well at events where groups of people are already socialising because the experience becomes something they can do together.
But from a marketing perspective, the real value is what happens afterwards.
One interaction can produce:
A guest experience.A branded video.A digital takeaway.A social post.A competition entry. And another touchpoint with the brand.
All from one spin.
When the branding, sharing experience and campaign mechanic are built around the event properly, a 360 Booth becomes much more than entertainment.
It becomes part of the marketing campaign.
The Best Result? They Booked Us Again.
We love having numbers behind an activation.
And 84 video sessions in one Night Ski is a result we're pretty happy with.
But there's another result that means even more to us.
Following the activation, Asahi has booked Moment Booth NZ for another Coronet Peak Night Ski activation.
Repeat bookings are one of the strongest indicators we can get that an experience delivered what the client wanted.
It also means we get another chance to head up the mountain and do it all again.
Not a bad office for the night.

Queenstown Is Made for Brand Activations
One of the things we're particularly excited about is what's possible with experiential marketing in Queenstown.
The region has locations that you simply can't recreate inside a conventional event venue.
Ski fields.
Tourism attractions.
Festivals.
Mountain venues.
Hospitality spaces.
Outdoor events.
Corporate experiences.
And some of New Zealand's most recognisable scenery.
For us, the question isn't:
“Where can we put a photo booth?”
It's:
“What experience can we create here?”
Sometimes that's a 360 video activation on Coronet Peak.
Sometimes it's an AI photo experience at a conference.
Sometimes it's a branded photo activation built around a major milestone.
And sometimes it's an idea we haven't built yet.
That's where this side of Moment Booth NZ gets really interesting.

More Than Just a Photo Booth
Moment Booth NZ works with brands, agencies, venues and event organisers to create interactive experiences around their campaigns.
Our brand activation capabilities include:
360 Video Activations — branded, social-ready video experiences designed for high guest participation.
AI Photo Booth Activations — transform guests into campaign-specific characters, environments and concepts.
Lead Capture Experiences — combine interactive content with valuable customer and campaign data.
Competition Activations — connect photo and video experiences with giveaways and promotional mechanics.
Branded Photo Booths — customised digital and print experiences built around the brand.
Instant Digital Sharing — put branded content directly into guests' hands while they're still at the event.
The technology we use depends on the campaign.
The objective is always the same:
Create something people actually want to interact with.
